after church, katie and i took a drive

along the northern coast of maui. gorgeous!

i enjoyed myself immensely.

katie...did not.

but that could be 'cause the drive

was a one lane road with hairpin turns.

perfect conditions for motion sickness.

hair pin turns and single lanes aside, the drive was

absolutely GORGEOUS! i couldn't get enough.

i love love LOVE maui.

shave ice is my fave. annie's in lahaina is the shiz.

throw some ice cream under all that ice and syrup...heaven.

i plan on spending as much of my weekend

as possible with this little delight in my hands.

surf's up.

finally made it to maui.

today was a most delicious day filled with beaching,

snorkeling, surfing and whale watching.

yep...you read that right. surfing.

now, i use the term very loosely, as the lesson

was filled with lots...

and lots...

and LOTS of wipeouts.

but i eventually made it to my knees...

...and even got up on my feet for a few seconds.

so basically...i'm a surfer now.

it's what i do. better than kayaking anyway.

the future is NOW.

i thought i was getting a crash course in photography.

turns out i got a crash course in modeling, too.

our class model didn't show up, so i played substitute as best i could.

now, we all know i'm not shy but holy cameras! awkward.

all in all, day 1 of AWLA was fabulously fun and oh-so-educational.

nicole is a ball o' sass and beauty and fantastic teacher-ness!

valentine's day eve was

valentine's gift to m'bestie? here you go.

i commissioned m'girl, shauna, for this

valentine's day delight.

in honor of taco and nacho,

i whipped up these bad boys. killer turtle brownies.

14 oz. pkg caramels
3/4 c. butter
1 german chocolate cake mix
1 C. chopped pecans
1 can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
12 oz. pkg chocolate chips

melt caramels with 1/2 can of eagle brand milk.

in separate bowl, mix melted butter, 1/2 can evaporated milk,

dry cake mix and 1/2 c. of the nuts.

place 1/2 of batter in a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 6 mins.

spread 1 c. of chocolate chips over top, the remaining nuts

and then the caramel mixture over the nuts.

press remaining batter between hands and place over the caramel.

sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top and bake for 15 mins.

done and dee-lish!

met my cousin, canon, for the first time

via skype last night. the wonders of modern technology.

she's 7 and lives in australia.

yes, she has an accent. it's adorable.

the highlight of the chat was her telling me about

the "fairy floss" she had at a party.

fairy floss is what the aussies call cotton candy.

like i said...adorable.

i really must get to australia for a visit!
