everyone needs a little magic in their lives.

anyway, we did just show. it was fab.

maui MUSTS: the gazebo at napili shores.

macadamia nut pancakes? head on over to the gazebo at napili shores.

it's the breakfast you never know you needed. yes, it's THAT good!

the line is always suuuuper long but insider info is to call in your

order "to go" and skip the line. there are tables around the pool

that you can eat at. just prepare to brave the stank eyes of all

the peeps that didn't know calling in was an option.

LACMA.

a couple of weekends ago, miss brittany and i took a quick trip to LACMA.

there are a couple of INCREDIBLE exhibits right now.

. john singleton copley, watson and the shark .

there is an incredible american stories exhibit.

i took an american humanities class in college and it was so

great to see so many of the paintings that i had studied in college.

so so SO exciting!

. pierre-auguste renoir, gabrielle with a rose .

the renoir exhibit was to DIE for! it showcased a lot of renoir's

post-impressionism paintings that were a nod to a more classical style.

the paintings were GORGEOUS and i learned so much about renoir!

after the museum, i forced brittany into

an impromptu photo shoot. she's a sassy little miss.

before we headed home, we made a stop at an

excavation site at the la brea tar pits. FOSSILS, people!

kinda random. kinda fun. all in all, a good day.

maui busts: lavender fields (in february).

confession: i was DYING to see the lavender fields.

still, i couldn't decide whether to make this a must or a bust.

in february, when the lavender isn't blooming, don't bother.

but i'd imagine that if these rolling hills were covered in

the lovely purple lavender buds, it would be a sight to see.

guess i'll have to go back and see for myself.

maui musts: snorkeling.

coral reefs, colorful fish and sea turtles galore.

there are LOADS of snorkeling spots in maui so keep

your gear handy. it's a maui must!

spice up your life!

sc5 hosted a little vma shindig to showcase

the video talents of all the sc5-ers.

it was...well attended.

the spice girls rolled in with a healthy dose of girl power.

a gaggle of gagas were spotted, as well.

things got a LITTLE crazy but all in all

it was a seriously good time.

maui musts: whale watching.

when it comes to whale migration,

maui in feb and march is THE place to be.

miss katie and i boarded one of these beauties and soaked up sun

while we headed to molokini for some serious snorkeling action

(more on that later).

our snorkeling expedition quickly turned into a full on

whale watching cruise.

whale mamas and babies were EVERYWHERE

(it was tough to catch them on camera).

i did manage to catch a whale tail a time (or two).

pictures or no, the snorkeling and impromptu

whale watching cruise was a dee-light!

as we were headed for dry land, we saw this little guy

on a rock. i was a little grossed out. okay...a LOT!

but it was kinda fun in all it's freakiness. a real, live octopus!

anyway. back to the whales. go to maui in february.

watch the whales. it's basically the best thing ever. a definite maui must!

harem pants + paula = yea or nay?

how do we feel about harem pants?

curvy girls in harem pants?

i'm seriously considering buying a pair.

maui musts: convertibles.

miss katie talked the car rental guy into

upgrading up from an aveo to a convertible mustang.

we didn't realize it at the time but, once we hit the streets,

we quickly realized a convertible in maui is an ABSOLUTE must!

there's nothin' like the warm maui breeze blowin' through

your hair as you zip up and down main street in lahaina

or on the highways between maui towns.

it seriously made the trip. well...that and the shave ice.

maui busts: maui nature center.

the day after the tsunami evacuation,

it rained like i've never seen it rain before.

our options were limited so we decided to hit up the

maui nature center in iao valley...BUST!

it may have been that we were trapped inside.

from what i've read, the greatness is in the nature trails

surrounding the nature center. but seriously? SERIOUSLY?!

that was still no excuse for the ghetto-ness we encountered.

i know it LOOKS like we're having fun here but believe me when

i say that this was the ONLY remotely entertaining aspect of the center.

aaaand i was pretty convinced that i was gonna get lice from

putting that ski cap and gloves on.

maui musts: road to hana.

everyone i talked to raved about the all day adventure

that is the road to hana. the second we hit the

road, i knew why everyone RAVED about it.

the road to hana is THE maui activity.

black rock beaches,

banana bread shacks (yum!),

GORGEOUS coves,

and the greenest valleys you've ever seen.

the down side is hairpin turns and one lane roads.

it gets pretty crazy. like...SERIOUSLY crazy.

honestly, the drive sucks but the views are incredible.

it's a maui must.

birthday girl.

it's m'little sissy ramona's birthday.

she's funny and sweet and crazy and the cutest thing you ever did see.

the little darling is turning 24 today.

i can hardly believe it.

tsunami?!

ever been woken up by pounding on

your door and sirens blaring warning of a tsunami?

freaky.

woken up at 5:30am. packed in like sardines.

nine looooong hours.

we passed the time as best we could.

got m'nails did.

card games galore.

luckily, i had chelsea handler's book on hand

to help pass the time. hee-larious!

just as we were about to go crazy,

the evacuation order was lifted and we were free!

no tsunami for maui (phew!) but what an adventure!
